Roza Eskenazi Greek Vocal 78 From The 1930s
From the script:
Roy: A few years ago, I wandered into my local North Van Sally Ann where I spied a stack of forty or so Greek 78s. Now, I’ll admit, I don’t know a heck of a lot about Greek music and most of the writing on the labels was in Greek but something told me to take a chance. So, I bought ‘em all and brought ‘em back to my slightly cluttered basement.
I’ve found a couple of great sides for the show this morning, dating from the thirties. So, before we hear Rita Abatzi, let’s hear her main rival from that time – Roza Eskenazi. I’d tell you the title of this tune but – I can’t read Greek.
