How Am I Doin', Hey, Hey Brunswick 78 ![]() This ‘hot’ 78 was recorded by the Mills Brothers in 1932, long before Paper Doll. Note label text which asserts that ‘no musical instruments or mechanical devices (were) used in this recording other than guitar’. The label describes the Mills Brothers as ‘Novelty Quartet with Guitar’ as opposed to the often quoted ‘Four Boys and a guitar’. Great stuff, part of SCPs four song ‘non scholarly’ look at the evolution of black vocal group singing. |
